Dr. Dan Eckert

Senior Software Architech - Aflac Corp.

Writing an unbeatable tic-tac-toe on a Wang desktop in 1977 was Dr. Eckart's first foray into computing. Before leaving high school he had mastered Basic, Cobol, Fortran, and IBM 360/370 Assembler. Despite this questionable beginning he went on to earn his BS in Applied Mathematics as well as his MS and PhD in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Tech. After a 13 year career in academia, he left his tenured Professorship at Radford University to find more excitement. After a failed startup and a three year stent as lead architect and software development manager for the director of the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Dr. Eckart is now a Senior Software Architect with Aflac at its Worldwide Headquarters in Columbus, GA. His presentation today is "Success Thru Small Loosely Coupled Pieces: A View From Three Perspectives".
